August Advocate of the Month
After being sworn in as an advocate in April, Whitney accepted her first case that involves twin siblings. To say she jumped right in is an understatement. Whitney started with the CPS office where she studied the entire case history to date. She then began to methodically contact every single individual involved with the case - biological parents, placement, Ad Litem, and of course the kiddos. Whitney takes her role as advocate very seriously, and it's obvious to us that she believes information is her most powerful tool.
Perhaps because her first case involves infants, Whitney felt that she could take on a second case, and she did so in July. This case involves a 2 year old, and again, Whitney jumped right in. She successfully contacted every party to the case the very first week! She was able to meet her kiddo immediately, and through monitored visits with the biological parents at the CASA office, Whitney is able to observe behaviors with the bio parents as well as during visits at placement. Her documentation of visits, conversations, contacts and her own observations is nothing short of impeccable.
Whitney is an incredible example of why the CASA program works. Judges have to have accurate information in order to make decisions that best benefit the kids. Whitney was able to provide her recommendation in court with absolute confidence. To date, she has made 64 contacts on her first case since accepting it in April, and 45 contacts on behalf of her second case in less than 2 months. That is dedication!
Whitney, you are amazing, and we are so grateful to have you speaking up for your sweet babies!
